With equal treatment of all low-carbon technologies to full potential of nuclear energy

Dr. Dejan Paravan, CEO of GEN energija, participated today in Brussels in the international conference Nuclear Energy 2.0, which discussed the central role of nuclear energy in achieving the climate, social, and strategic goals of the European Union in partnership with renewable energy sources. The conference was jointly organized by three European energy companies: EDF (France), FORTUM (Finland), and Vattenfall (Sweden).

As part of the conference, Dr. Dejan Paravan participated in a panel discussion with Maroš Šefčovič, European Commission Executive Vice-President for European Green Deal, Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, along with top executives of some leading European energy companies. They discussed the challenges and opportunities in the financing of nuclear new builds, the importance of well-established supply chains, and the role of human resources development.

They addressed a joint initiative to the European Commission for the equal treatment of all low-carbon technologies in terms of conditions for and access to financing sources, which is crucial for nuclear energy to fully contribute to a carbon-neutral future.
